Administration Communication 07/16/2021

Dear Emmanuel Family, 

We are a little more than a month away from the start of a new school year. Hopefully you have enjoyed a change of pace over the summer as well as found rest in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus. We are gearing up for the start of the new school year. The information below will help you prepare for the first day of school, August 24th. Contact the office if you have any questions. 

IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES:

  • July 19: Educational Apparel 12:00-6:00pm, ECA Cafeteria

  • July 25: Admissions Open House 3:00-5:00 pm.  If you know anyone interested in attending our school, please contact Lynne Willis in the school office, 390-3777.

  • August 2:  Official Fall Practices Begin (HS Golf, JH/HS Cross Country, JH/HS Track, JH/HS Soccer, JH/HS Volleyball)

  • August 2:  Mandatory Fall Sports Meeting 6:00 pm in the ECA Cafeteria 

  • August 19: Open House 5:00-7:00 pm 

  • August 24: First day of school 

  • August 28: Purple and Gold Gala 

2021 PURPLE AND GOLD GALA

We are excited for the 2021 PURPLE and GOLD GALA set for Saturday, August 28, 2021! All proceeds support The Way They Should Go Fund which exists to financially support families who desire a strong biblically integrated education and Christian culture for their children.  ENROLLMENT UPDATE

Enrollment numbers continue to increase as we work diligently through the summer to help families prepare their students for educational excellence and God’s calling.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLOS AND UPDATES

We are waiting for the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Department of Education for directives and orders before best practice protocols. We learned last year that things change rather quickly. Stay tuned.

 REMOTE LEARNING

Moving forward, “remote learning” as a full-time mode will still be an option for 5-12th grade students, but only by request. We do not plan on allowing TK-4th grade to choose remote learning as the primary learning mode and will only have that option in the case of a quarantined student. 

POLICY FOR THE 2021/22 SCHOOL YEAR

Remote Learning (Elementary)

  • “Parent/Student Choice”

    • TK-4th grade students will not have the opportunity to choose remote learning as an out of school option. The only exception would be quarantine or contact tracing. Remote learning may have asynchronous and synchronous components. 

    • 5th/6th grade:  May request for their student to participate remotely by quarter but must commit to remote learning for the duration of the quarter. 

      Each request must be approved by administration and the grade level teachers.

      Students failing to meet academic requirements will be asked to return to the building or may be dismissed. 

    • Student assessments are a necessary part of the elementary student growth process. Parents will be asked to bring their student for a teacher assessment at the beginning of the school year and then again in the spring as the teacher deems it necessary. This will be coordinated with the teacher at a time that works best for both the teacher and family. 

    • Students who are quarantined or isolated will have the opportunity to participate in remote learning until they are cleared to return to school. 

Remote Learning (Secondary)

  • A student in 7th-12th grade may request remote learning as a learning modality on a quarter by quarter basis.

    • Administration must approve each request

    • Students failing to meet academic requirements will be asked to return to the building or may be dismissed. 

  • Remote learning  will be primarily synchronous but may have asynchronous components as well (videos to review, recorded class lectures). 

  • “Self Paced”: Remote learning is NOT self paced. Students are expected to stay on level and pace with the teacher and class. Assignments will be due daily and weekly. 

  • Teachers will use Google Classroom as the learning platform for their classes.  Students are required to use this platform to access and engage in “live” instruction, view resources, complete assignments, etc.

  • Paper packets will not be provided.

  • Students who are quarantined or isolated will have the opportunity to participate in remote learning until they are cleared to return to school. 

CHROMEBOOK SUMMER CARE AND RETURN TO SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS

Grades TK through 11 will keep their Chromebooks at home throughout the summer. Seniors turned in theirs as a prerequisite before graduating. Chromebooks are to return with the student fully charged and operational for the first day of school.

  • Remember that Emmanuel’s “Computer & Internet Acceptable Use Policy” is to be followed regardless of where the device is located.

  • Students and families are responsible for the general care of the Chromebook they have been issued by the school. 

  • Students should never leave their Chromebooks unattended unless properly secured.

  • All Chromebooks are the tagged property of Emmanuel Christian Academy and as such may be inspected upon request.
