Emmanuel's Firm FUTURE Initiative

Emmanuel’s 20-year-old building looks great thanks to our incredible staff. Yet after 20 years, all the mechanicals (see the list below) are in varying states of repair and reliability based on their useful life. We have been fighting through cooling and heating outages, leaks, frequent repairs, and high utility costs. Furthermore, the need to upgrade our surveillance camera system and phone system for emergency communications has been pressing.

Additionally, in 2015, Emmanuel purchased 17+ acres of land south of the school that connects us to Villa Road with the goal of one day expanding our athletic facilities. The final lump sum payment of $129,000 was due August 2020.

With the goal of positioning the school for a prosperous and healthy future, we began praying about what we are now calling our Firm Future Initiative. At first blush the task seemed insurmountable. Yet not for God. He led us through a long process that resulted in the ability to address the mechanicals, camera upgrades, and financing. Here is what that looks like.

We have been awarded two grants: The first is a $40,000 grant awarded for an upgraded video surveillance system and floor maintenance equipment. The second $40,000 is an energy efficiency upgrade grant. Additionally, we have successfully financed a $1.3 million renovation project, paid off the Villa Road land contract, and refinanced our existing $2.9 million mortgage at a lower interest rate.

This is a HUGE answer to prayer!

The implementation timeline guide is as follows:

  • Completed: Interior and Exterior LED Lighting

  • December/January: Clocks, Public Address, and Surveillance Cameras

  • January-March: Roof Replacement and Floor Machines

  • March: Energy Control System

  • April: Air Conditioning Chiller

  • May: Boiler, Hot Water Heaters, and Kitchen Exhaust Fan

Our plan is to pay additional principal payments to retire the entire debt 15 years from now. This way we will be in a good position for the next planned mechanical replacement cycle and to reduce interest costs. Stay tuned for opportunities to become involved in the principal prepayment plan.
