In an effort to prepare for the possibility of an all school “Remote Learning Day”, we are going to hold a Remote Learning Practice Day on Friday, October 2.
On this day, all students will stay at home and participate in classes remotely. According to our student handbooks, “Remote Learning Days” may be used as needed and are detailed in “Emergency Closing of the School”.
Below is the Remote Learning Plan for our Entire School.
Please notice that there is a plan and time for the Elementary and then one for Secondary. This plan takes into consideration if a longer time beyond one day were to be needed. For the purpose of our “practice day” we will be treating it as a single day. Secondary (7-12) will be on the “Gold” schedule.
Elementary Schedule (8am-11am):
Students will log in daily to a Google Meet with their homeroom teachers at 8am for attendance.
Students are expected to be actively engaged in their learning until 11am. The teacher will have some form of live instruction that day, whether it be logged in together from 8am-11am, or set times as determined by the teacher.
Teachers may give students assignments that are to be completed after 11am.
Work Day Wednesdays
Students will log in at 8am for attendance, morning prayer and check in with their teacher.
Students will then work on assignments, projects, etc. as instructed by their teacher.
Teachers (including the intervention team) will meet one on one with students, as needed.
This is an academic day, and students are expected to work on and complete assignments as instructed.
Chapel - Thursdays 11:00-11:30
Specials for GradesTK-6:
Students will check their Google classroom for assignments in the specials classes
Students in Grades TK-4 will not attend a class with live instruction unless communicated in Google classroom by the specials teacher.
Band/Orchestra Schedule for Grades 5 & 6
Students will log in to a Google Meet via Google Classroom on the following days:
4th Grade Orchestra (on normal class days): 11:30 - 12:21
5th and 6th Grade Band (on normal class days): 12:26 - 1:17
5th and 6th Grade Orchestra (on normal class days): 12:26 - 1:17
5th and 6th Grade Band Pullouts (as communicated by Mr. Collins): 1:22-2:13
4th - 6th Grade Elementary Musical (as communicated by Mrs. Allen): 2:18 - 3:10

On Purple and Gold Days:
Students will log in to a Google Meet at the beginning of each class period for attendance.
Students do not need to sign in to their study hall or FLEX periods.
Students are expected to be actively engaged in each class.
Teachers will give students assignments that are to be completed outside of the scheduled class time, including days where the class is not scheduled to meet.
Teachers will communicate their expectations to TA’s (high school students). (This only applies for long term remote learning).
Virtual Classroom/Remote Learning: Student Requirements and Online Expectations
Daily visual and verbal attendance. Students must join the Google Meet at the beginning of each day’s class and be prepared for class with all necessary supplies.
Students should not be on their phone or distracted by other electronics (video games/music).
Students should maintain a visual presence the entire class period showing their faces. Students may only turn off the video with permission from the instructor.
Students should be focused on class instruction/discussion and prepared to participate and answer questions.
Students should treat the remote classroom as if they were in the physical classroom showing respect to teachers and classmates.
Students should be seated at a table conducive for learning in a quiet uninterrupted space.
Students should be appropriately clothed.
Chat comments should be “on task” and a constructive part of the learning environment. Holding side conversations or chat sessions is not permitted.
All assignments must be turned in through Google classroom (not emailed) and will follow the same late policy as is in the handbook for in-class instruction.
Any activity performed through Google Meet, Google Classroom or on a school Chromebook is subject to school guidelines and discipline
