NEXT YEAR’S SCHOOL CALENDAR

The 2021/22 school year calendar will be released by the end of this month. The first day of school next year is Tuesday, August 24. The “Open House” will be Thursday, August 19.

ELEMENTARY TESTING ADJUSTMENTS

Currently, our 3rd - 6th graders are scheduled to take state tests and MAP testing. State testing is required, but we don’t receive usable data about a student’s progress like we do with MAP testing.

However, as we look at the amount of testing that is taking place with our students during this season, it is simply too much. Therefore, the following modifications have been made to ease the load for our students.

State testing will still be required for all students, but we have adjusted the amount of MAP testing for each grade level. 4th - 6th graders will only take the Math MAP assessment this spring. 3rd graders will take the Math and Reading assessment.

SECONDARY EXAMS AND TESTING

We are so proud of the accomplishments our students have made this year. Despite the pandemic, they have made great gains in their learning. However, we also understand that this year has had its difficulties, and we have had to make adjustments and modifications accordingly.

One adjustment we made for the first semester was to cancel the first semester exams. With this decision in mind, and after much discussion and collaboration with teachers and administrators, we have decided that we will not follow the typical exam schedule for the second semester.

  1. The last two days of the school, May 13th and 14th, will operate as normal school days

  2. Teachers may choose to give a cumulative assessment of second semester learning, but it will count as a 4th quarter grade, not an exam grade.

  3. Students in grades 7 - 10 will take the MAP assessment in Math only, and this will take place during their regularly scheduled class.

COVID0-19 PROTOCOLS AND UPDATES

As we continue to move forward and make adjustments to our COVID-19 protocols, we want to continue to be careful and mindful of all our students and employees. At this moment, the only change we will be making is in regard to temperature checks.

Temperature checks have been a part of our morning routine since the beginning of the school year. Daily temperature checks on every student will no longer be conducted as part of our schedule. CDC recommendations are as follows:

Based on the best available evidence at this time:

  • CDC does not currently recommend school conduct symptom screening for all students in grade K-12 on a routine (e.g., daily) basis.

  • Parents, caregivers, or guardians should be strongly encouraged to monitor their children for symptoms of infectious illness every day through home-based symptom screening.

  • Students who are sick should not attend school in-person.

  • Click here to see the CDC statement

Parents are expected to screen their child(ren) every morning prior to school. Please see the Daily Health Assessment linked HERE (this was sent home towards the beginning of the school year) and following the requirements and recommendations for when to stay home.

We ask that you remain diligent in your efforts as this school year is coming to an end. No other changes have been made in regards to our COVID-19 protocols at the present time.
