Part 1 – How should we read the Bible? 10 minutes

  • Click on this link to watch the first video - Bible Part 4

  • Be prepared, the following discussion questions are within the video:

    • Is the Bible written to you?

    • Which is biblically correct? Turn your swords into plows or turn your plows into swords?

Part 2 – Sharing (make time for each person to respond). 20 minutes

  • Discuss the four C’s referenced in the video.

  • Context

Can anyone share a bible passage that is written “for you“ verses “to you“? If so, read the verse or paraphrase the verse by memory.

  • Complete Story

A popular phrase goes like this, “there are three sides to every story“. In a politically polarized America, would it not be refreshing for a third perspective? How does this apply to understanding a difficult bible verse?

  • Community

Can one or two of you share a brief story of when a friend, parent, or pastor helped you better understand a bible verse, section of the bible, or theological construct?

  • Christ

You will not understand the bible without knowing Jesus. How does the quote at the top of this blog relate to Jesus being at the center of the bible?

Part 3 – Prayer. 10 minutes

  • Use your remaining time to pray for each other.

  • Group Leader, please post takeaways, thoughts, and questions as a comment below. Thanks.
