Chapel/Devotions - SOW GRACE

He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed. A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.

PROVERBS 22:8–9

Funny ending. My cat Tigger knocks over the tripod and camera. 😊

Reflections:

  1. What does Proverbs 22:8 say will happen to the one who sows wickedness? What does “the rod of his fury will be destroyed“ mean?

  2. What does Proverbs 22:9 say will happen to the one who is generous?

  3. Which two definitions best describe the generosity in Proverbs 22:9?

    a.     Giving to others that which you do not need.

    b.     Seeing what you have as a blessing and giving from it.

    c.     Sharing what you need with others.

  4. Read Colossians 4:6, “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

    a.     Does grace mean kindness or something else?

    b.     How does “seasoned with salt“ impact the definition of “grace in this verse?

  5. Consider this thought… If you are not aware of your need for grace, are you appreciative of that grace? If you fail to see your food as a blessing from God, will you share God’s food? Consider how you treat the Gospel. Is it a commodity or is it an amazing undeserved favor from God? If you feel entitled to Grace for whatever reason, you are unprepared for salty-grace-filled conversations. If you are intentional about knowing your great need for Jesus and appreciate his unmerited favor, you will likely point people to Jesus during conversations. Generosity starts with Jesus… truly you cannot be generous unless you see your need for Jesus and appreciate your “daily bread”.

    a.     Craft a simple one or two sentence prayer that you can say that will remind you to sow grace. If you know me, you know my daily prayer is “Lord, I need you.
