April 13 Update from Building Principal Dan Moore

Dear Emmanuel Families,

I hope that each of you had an opportunity to celebrate the Risen Savior yesterday. Although today is a scheduled day off for our teachers and staff, I assure you that we are preparing for this week next week of remote learning.

I understand that the task in front of all of us has been challenging. In my previous communication, I had included a link to a survey for your feedback. If you have not filled this out, I would appreciate it if you would: https://bit.ly/2X29Nea.

Although the next Governor’s directives are unknown, we have been preparing along with our staff and are hopeful for an opportunity to return to school in May. There are a few questions that I would like to address so that we can keep you in the loop.

All of ECA’s April events have been cancelled. Remaining school year events are being discussed with the appropriate groups. We are working with the Junior class officers in regard to Prom. We are discussing the options for our seniors with their Senior Trip. We are collaborating with our Seniors and their parents in regard to our Commencement ceremony. All school concerts, awards ceremonies, and recognitions are on hold until we understand what the return to school will look like. We have waited to make announcements in regard to cancelling or postponing each of these events until we get a little closer, while making contingency plans along the way.

Rick Herring, our Athletic Director, has communicated that the OHSAA has released a contingent timeline and schedule so that if we do return to school, a spring sports season can be salvaged. We will release information in regard to summer sports and summer camps once we have additional information needed to make decisions.

I hope to be able to address some additional questions in the near future such as the following:

  1. What will happen if we do return to school? What will happen if we do not return to school this year?

    • Academically

    • Sports

    • Summer Break

  2. What will next school year look like and when will the calendar be released?

Finally, I want to continue to encourage you to keep your teachers updated with struggles that your child might be having. Please let us know how to help. In addition, if we can help out your family in any way, please contact me via email or cell at 937-605-6993 or for the “Care Team”, contact Rick Herring (rherring@ecaoh.com or 937-637-3701).
