May 16 Parent Communication from Dan Moore

Good morning!

A familiar verse came to mind this morning and I would like to share it with you. “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) This subtle reminder is powerful for all of us. My prayer is that we all rely on His power and not dwell in our weakened state.

Please make sure to return books, athletic uniforms, or anything that is ECA property. We are required to inventory these items and that will be especially challenging this year. Instructions for completing this process are below.

Finally, I would like to stress that we are planning to return to school this August. We have initiated a “Return to School Safety Committee” which will explore and determine the appropriate steps to move forward. We will release additional details in the upcoming weeks.

The following items will be covered below:

  • Academic Announcements/Reminders

  • Athletic Announcements

  • Final instructions for returning ECA books, assignments, uniforms, etc.

  • Building hours for May.

By His Grace,

Dan Moore, Building Principal

ACADEMIC ANNOUNCEMENTS/REMINDERS

“Wrapping Up”:

  • May 18 - 21

    • Final week to turn in work, missing work, books and pick up belongings

    • Please see the drop off / pick up schedule

Late Work: We have extended beyond our normal late work policies to allow grace to students who are working to complete assignments.

Missing Assignments: Students will have until May 21 to complete and turn in assignments.

No Final Exams: 7 - 12 Grade will not have final exams.

FINAL GRADES/ASSESSMENTS:

From a general perspective, teachers have “lightened” grading criteria and remained flexible

We will be assigning final grades for the fourth quarter.

  • TK - 2nd Grade: Final assessments/reports will reflect the learning process as well as effort. The goal of the final report is to communicate where student strengths and deficiencies currently lie.

  • 3rd - 12th Grade: Our plan will allow for a fair and equitable fourth quarter grade and subsequent semester grade. The teaching and administration team are finalizing a standard process although, ultimately, teachers will exercise their professional judgement to responsibly assign the 4th Quarter final and semester grades in conjunction with school administration.

College Credit Plus Classes: Follow the college policies for CCP classes

Report Cards: June 5, 2020

2020/21 SCHOOL YEAR

Quite simply, we are planning to return to school! We are building a “Return to School Safety Committee” and will work through this process. Emmanuel’s environment is conducive to being able to plan and work around whatever we are tasked to do by the Ohio Department of Education.

  • The 2020/21 calendar is posted on our website under “Resources”

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS

There are new protocols for sports that have been released in the last few days, but the OHSAA is still working with the details and will be updating us soon. The Governor has cleared non contact and low contact sports. We will provide updates once we have additional information and a safe plan in place.
